I am a story teller at heart. For every piece I edit my goal is to always convey information and emotions. I do this by making sure I understand the material and utilizing both timing and tempo in order to move my audiences. I approach editing the same way a choreographer creates a dance piece or a composer writes a song.

"WRITTEN IN THE STARS"

“WRITTEN IN THE STARS” is a program involving relationships and astrology.
In each episode, the audience meets a participant who represents a zodiac sign. Presented by Ingrid Guimarães, the program has two humor sketches in each episode and Raphael was responsible for editing all 24 sketches throughout the season.
"OUT OF THE CLOSET"
HBO - Doc Series
"OUT OF THE CLOSET" presents an intimate portrait of several characters after revealing their true sexuality to family and friends. Discovering, accepting and exposing someone's true sexual identity can still be a taboo in our society - at the same time, it is also a crucial moment in the lives of everyone who goes through it, even if indirectly. OUT OF THE CLOSET shows the challenges of dealing with the consequences of this revelation. Raphael Alvarez was responsible for the episode that deals with transsexuality in old age, a delicate and emotional topic.
"THE RISE OF EMCIDA"

A documentary chronicling Brazilian hip hop star Emicida’s rise to fame. The project was produced for Vice Media and Intel's ‘The Creators Project’ and quickly exploded across the internet, getting the attention of MTV, which screened the film nationwide in Brazil over 20 times in a year.
"BR TRANS"
CANAL BRASIL/Documentary Feature
"BR TRANS" is a documentary based on the work of actor Silvero Pereira, who gives voice to the most marginalized and murdered population in Brazil today, the transgender community.
Through the juxtaposition of a play starring Silvero Pereira, real stories and fiction mix in search of feelings such as affection and empathy.
Raphael shared the editing with Rodrigo Brazão.
"LIVING ON LAUGHTER"
VIVA Network - 10 Episodes - Doc Series
"VIVER DO RISO" is a comprehensive portrait of Brazilian comedy over the years, showcasing its best comedians and remembering its most iconic characters, sketches, shows, and films. Presented by actress and comedian Ingrid Guimarães. Raphael chose to edit the tribute episode to the icon Chico Anysio, the great comedy genius who created more than 280 characters during his more than 60 years of career on TV.
"OS HASSUMS"
MULTISHOW/Comedy Series
"OS HASSUMS"is a travel and humor series with the incredible actor and comedian, Leandro Hassum, which is scheduled to premiere in 2024.
Leandro travels across the United States with his wife, Kaka, and their dog Belinha. on an adventure that goes from Las Vegas to Orlando in 5 episodes.
Raphael was responsible for putting together the premiere episode, thus building with the director the format of the entire series as well as the narrative of each episode.
"SHOPPING FRENZY"

In "SHOPPING FRENZY", Ingrid Guimarães investigates the universe of consumption today in a fun and relaxed way. What leads so many of us to “go crazy” buying things we don’t need?" SHOPPING FRENZY" had 8 successful seasons. Raphael was responsible for putting together all the premiere programs for all seasons, as well as most of the comedian's comedy sketches.
"THE BOY WHO WAS MARILYN"
Documentary Sizzle Reel
"THE BOY WHO WAS MARILYN" is a documentary about one of the greatest imitators of the international icon Marilyn Monroe. Jimmy James not only looked like the muse but also sang live. Which made him become a Superstar overnight. Raphael researched all of the artist's archive material and put together this zizzle reel of the documentary with production scheduled for 2024/2025.
"DANCING WHEELS"

"DANCING WHEELS" It's a short film about a non-profit dance company.
“Body in Movement” is formed by disabled dancers. It was founded in 1985 and since then has returned autonomy, happiness, and freedom to wheelchair company members. This dance group participated in two Paralympics, at the Closing Ceremony in Sydney and London. And at the “Maracanã Stadium” in the Confederations Cup. Raphael Alvarez received the Platinum Editor of the Year Award from the Director's Awards in Malasya.
"THE BRAZILIAN"
Award Winning Feature Documentary
The Brazilian" is an independent documentary about the rise of major ballroom dancer and choreographer: Carlinhos de Jesus. Born in the poor outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Carlinhos was raised into stardom by following his dreams and by dancing through every challenge life has thrown his way. Raphael reviewed every artist's footage including home videos and interviews to write a script with the director Lucia Barata and be able to execute this editing.
"THE GRETCHEN"s MAKING OF"

The Pop singer Gretchen enjoys her most recent comeback due to the international success of the “Swish Swish” lyric video, from Katy Perry, starred by her. THE GRETCHENS follows her daily life in France and her frequent and long trips to Brazil, where she does a lot of shows and deals with her title of Queen of the Internet. The reality show also portrays her relationship with the rest of the family, like her transexual son Thammy, his girlfriend Andressa, and her sister Sula Miranda, a country music singer. The making of showcases the day-to-day shoot of the reality show especially in Monaco where she lives. The making of was edited by Raphael Alvarez one of the directors of the reality show.

Award Winning Feature Documentary
DZI CROQUETTES is today the most awarded Documentary in Brazilian History with an array of awards, including awards in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, London, Torino, and Brazil and the equivalent of the Brazilian Academy Awards and the Golden Globes in Rio de Janeiro. After its successful run in its country of origin, DZI CROQUETTES represented Brazil in more than 50 international film festivals. This was Raphael's first professional editing work and he won best editing at the Brazilian Grand Prix (considered the Brazilian Academy Awards) and Fest Cine Goiánia.
